Change is something you can do.
Change is also the coins that rattle in your pocket.
Help us by donating change — and by making change.
We are educators in Toronto and Cross Lake who have worked together a long time, and want to help one another. We are collecting spare change to support people in Cross Lake and northern Manitoba who have been displaced by out-of-control wildfires. You can donate through the Red Cross or by bringing a donation to school. Funds will go directly to people in need — those who have fled their homes and don’t know what they will return to.
But change doesn’t stop there.
Bring in your spare CHANGE to school or donate to our GoFundMe page. Every cent makes a difference.

What changes can you make to help our planet? Wildfires like these are becoming more common. Can you reduce waste, buy less, or live more sustainably?
Learn. Ask. Make CHANGE. Why are so many Indigenous communities being displaced by fires? Why are so many still without access to clean drinking water? What does it mean to live on land that was taken? Dig deeper. Fact-check. Understand the history.
And for reconciliation to truly happen between non-Indiegnous and Indigenous peoples, change must happen. Colonisation isn’t over. Our national policies still cause harm. Treaties need to be honoured and understood.
Positive CHANGE begins with education, inquiry, and accountability. Spread awareness.
